Our last week of 2013/14 at St Matthew Academy

Our aim is to offer our children a better education than they would get in any other school.

There have been ‘Magic Moments’ across both the Primary and Secondary Schools throughout this year when our aim has been achieved.

During our last week of 2013/14 when many schools are winding down our staff went into a sprint finish.

This week all the ‘magic moments’ joined up together to make a ‘magic week’ and this week …we have achieved our aim!

Principal Barry also met one of his Heroes. “I have admired Ade from the first time I saw him on TV in the 2004 Paralympics and then in 2005 in a programme called ‘Beyond Boundries’ where Ade as part of a disabled group dragged himself up a mountain on his hands and knees for 5 hours.

This week’s Gospel was the ‘Good Shepherd’.

Ms CJ is a ‘Good Shepherd’ who cares for her flock. Ms CJ ‘Lets Your Light Shine’ and is doing so she gives our children the opportunity to discover and develop their God given talents.

We are like a stain glass window with God’s light shining through us.

St Matthew Academy + College of Music

Today we had the privilege to welcome:

Craig Coultas – Soprano Sax
Caitlin Jeffery – Alto Sax
Christopher Sullivan – Tenor Sax
Bethany Miles – Baritone Saxfrom

…from Trinity College of Music Greenwich into St Matthew Academy.

The fabulous four played different types of saxophone for a music recital in Primary Assembly and the in Secondary Teresa House Assembly.

They were GREAT! and the best is yet to come! They have agreed to return and run workshops for our children.

Our children were GREAT in assembly this morning as an audience and gave the group a standing ovation.

Mrs Quinn awarded 3W with the best Attendance cup – Congratulations!

Who will win the attendance cup next week?

Our wonderful librarian Mrs Bache also gave out prizes for reading.

principalbarry’s daughter visits @StMattAcad

Monday 15 April 2013

My daughter Sophia who is 8 years old had an ‘INSECT’ day today at her school and wanted to spend the day at ‘Daddy’s work’

Sophia was made to feel very welcome by all the children at St Matthew Academy today …I was very proud of them

Ocean and Demi from Y3 come over and introduced themselves and asked if they could give Sophia a tour …and off they went. They did a GREAT job.

In return Sophia went to visit their class later in the day and this is what happened:

What a GREAT day!

I can’t wait until then next time Sophia or my other daughter Ella has an ‘INSECT’ day!
